Assignment 01
Synopsis
We are required to submit a synopsis in the form of a reaction paper. Its aim is for the students to read a selected reading in relation to the theme that has been discussed in class for the week and submit a reaction paper to the text. Based on the reader, we need to provide our own critical perspectives and relate the theories with the contemporary issues and urban form.
Assignment 02
Case Study on Asian Streets and Comparative Analysis Essay
This assignment divides into two parts, group and individual work. We are to explore the idea of “Life Between Buildings Using Public Space” (1986) by Jahn Gehl and implement the theory into the streets. For the first part, we are to examine patterns of social activities in a foreign city and identify ‘contact points’. The street that assigned to our studio group is Jalan Pasar Baru, Indonesia. For the second part, individually we need to examine similarities and dissimilarities based on the patterns of social activities, types of ‘contact points’. and the varying degrees of contact intensity between the two cities.
