Representing Place

This module introduces us to services that are commonly provided in buildings, primarily cold and hot water supply, sewerage treatment, drainage and storm water management, electrical supply, fire protection systems, mechanical ventilation, air-conditioning systems and mechanical transportation systems. We will also be familiar with the basic requirements in planning, coordination and installation of these services related to the local Acts and By-Laws of Malaysia.

Assignment 01

Capturing, Experiencing & Analyzing the Place

In a group of 4, we are required to do two exercises as part of the study. The first part is to write a 200-300 word essay on hybrid morphology, which includes an initial background and study of the place and the second task will be undertaken during the site visit. Document the place through a series of sketches and photos and a 10-minute video presentation sharing the group’s analysis of the place. The analysis need to be based on the book Responsive Environment by Ian Bentley.

Assignment 02

Interpreting and Representing Place thru Visual Presentation

This assignment requires us to translate your research into a visual representation. An abstract 3D wall artwork is with am A2 artwork containing the narrative and ideation behind the artwork.
